As farmers we are committed to raising the best in field-fresh produce and pasture raised animal products. As farmers and eaters who want good food 12 months of the year we are dedicated to raising food year round for our customers who are searching for local, seasonal, farm-fresh food. Please note: we are production farmers with the traditional work ethic of up at sunrise and in bed at sunset. We are busy working each day to "make food". We are a family operation consisting of myself and my wife and our four children and occasional helpers for big projects. We do not employ somebody to answer emails or answer the phone. We are not involved in social networking when our animals or plants need us. Many people have been offended in the past because we have not answered the phone or returned an email as soon as they think we should have. This is what I call a clash of cultures. Our top priority is the well being of our livestock and our crops which becomes your food. We have learned through sad experience that most people today expect us to return emails within a few hours. This is not possible when doing the chores required to produce the kind of food our customers want. We feel we are doing great to check the emails once a week. I keep a phone in my pocket but I only stick my hand in my pocket if my hand is dry. When I am milking the cows my hands are not dry. When I am preg checking the cows my hands are covered with manure, when I am doing pig chores I usually get very dirty. In the garden I am often muddy, when I am on the tractor "vibrate" on the phone is a joke compared to the rattle of the machines we use to grow your food. It's not that I don't want to answer the phone we simply have a very different lifestyle. As always we run a transparent farm and you are welcome to come see the realities of sustainable food production, I would suggest that you bring your boots.
